The world of Narnia is returning to the big screen — but this time, the story goes back to the very beginning.
Greta Gerwig is writing and directing Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, a new adaptation of C. S. Lewis’s classic 1955 novel. Rather than revisiting the familiar wardrobe, the fantasy adventure explores the origins of Narnia and the events that lead to the creation of the magical land.
The story follows two children, Digory and Polly, who discover a mysterious connection between different worlds. Their adventures bring them face-to-face with magical forces and the powerful lion Aslan, whose role is central to Narnia’s creation.
⭐ Cast and creative teamThe film features David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell as Digory and Polly, alongside Daniel Craig, Meryl Streep, Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, Ciarán Hinds, Denise Gough, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith and Susan Wokoma.
Gerwig, known for Barbie and Little Women, brings her own vision to Lewis’s beloved fantasy universe. The film also features an original score by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt.
📅 Release datesThe first trailer was released in October 2026, giving fans an early glimpse of the film’s magical worlds and its new take on the Narnia story.
Will Greta Gerwig’s adaptation capture the wonder of the original books for a new generation? The film is shaping up to be one of the major fantasy releases to watch in 2027.
