As White Dog leads a Shoshone band through the Wind River Valley, Quince and a small cavalry escort attempt to see them safely across the frontier. A nighttime warning and the arrival of Petrie’s self-styled “Army of God” place the band’s flags of peace at the center of a dangerous confrontation.
