Fibber McGee and Molly presents “Golden Wedding Anniversary,” originally broadcast on March 6, 1945. Episode 430 of the classic NBC comedy series stars Jim and Marian Jordan as Fibber and Molly McGee.
After Molly spots a newspaper item about a couple’s golden anniversary, Fibber decides the McGees should celebrate theirs right away instead of waiting. Their plans for dinner and dancing at the Wistful Vista Biltmore bring friends including Harlow Wilcox, Doc Gamble, Alice Darling, and Mrs. Carstairs into the festivities. Written by Don Quinn and Phil Leslie, this Johnson’s Wax-sponsored broadcast also features Billy Mills and His Orchestra and the King’s Men.
Fibber McGee and Molly presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
