The Shadow presents “Murder by a Corpse,” originally broadcast October 31, 1948, as episode 458. In this Halloween-season mystery, Bret Morrison stars as Lamont Cranston/The Shadow, with Grace Matthews as Margot Lane.
On a stormy road near Mason City, Lamont and Margot meet a frightened woman who believes a dead man has returned to threaten her. Clues from Mount Cleardale Cemetery to the private Mancheck Sanitarium draw The Shadow into a suspenseful case of fear, false appearances, and hidden motives. Written by Edward J. Adamson for the Mutual Broadcasting System’s Blue Coal program.
The Shadow presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
