The Shadow presents “The Diamond Murders,” originally broadcast October 8, 1939. Also listed as episode 168 in one numbering system, this Mutual Broadcasting System mystery stars Bill Johnstone as Lamont Cranston/The Shadow and Marjorie Anderson as Margot Lane.
At Eagle Field, visiting baseball pitchers begin dying by electrocution during a night game, leaving police to confront an apparently impossible crime before a crowd of witnesses. The Shadow and Margot Lane investigate the ballpark and its staff in this Jerry Devine script, originally sponsored by Blue Coal.
The Shadow presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
