The Shadow presents “The Murder Underground,” episode 218 of the Mutual network series, originally broadcast March 9, 1941. This archival recording stars Bill Johnstone as Lamont Cranston/The Shadow and Marjorie Anderson as Margo Lane.
Mysterious deaths in a rat-infested municipal vault draw Lamont and Margo into a fog-bound waterfront investigation involving confiscated slot machines, missing nickels, and the ominous address of Number Six River Street. Scripted by Jerry Devine and adapted from the Shadow novels by Walter B. Gibson, the episode follows a dangerous trail beneath the docks.
The Shadow presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
