From The Shadow, “The Nursery Rhyme Murders” originally aired February 22, 1948, as episode 436. This Mutual Broadcasting System mystery was sponsored by Blue Coal, written by Alfred Bester, and stars Bret Morrison as Lamont Cranston and Grace Matthews as Margo Lane.
A local archival recording finds Cranston and Margo investigating a frightening escape from Brookside Home, a private sanitarium. As ominous clues begin to echo familiar nursery rhymes, the pair race to uncover the connection before another threatened victim is drawn into the pattern.
The Shadow presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
