In this episode, I explore the idea of the “Japanese mass-produced businessman.” I describe how schools and companies have traditionally shaped people into reliable, obedient, and interchangeable workers who fit smoothly into large organizations. This model was highly effective during Japan’s twentieth-century industrial era, when consistency, discipline, and collective coordination supported mass production and global growth. However, today’s economy increasingly rewards independent judgment, adaptability, and the ability to create new systems. The problem is not that these workers suddenly became incompetent, but that the world changed while the organizational standards remained old.
