Main Title (Use this): Meta's $18 Billion Punishment: Instagram's Midnight Ban & 2-Hour Limit for Teens

Instagram will literally tell you "Go to sleep" at midnight. Seriously.

On August 26, 2026, Meta (Facebook & Instagram) agreed to the largest youth safety settlement in US history — up to $18 BILLION with 52 Attorneys General — for allegedly designing its apps to addict kids.

In this 3-minute briefing, we break down:

• Why was Meta sued for teen mental health harms?
• The 5 new rules for under-18s: 2-hour daily limit, 12 AM - 6 AM night block, School Mode (8 AM-3 PM mute), hidden like counts, and 15-min scroll alerts.
• The $12.7B guaranteed + $5B conditional payment clause tied to TikTok, Snap & YouTube.
• Is this enough? The loopholes critics are pointing out — from age-verification to kids shifting to other apps.

Is this a real fix or just damage control? And should India adopt the same model?
