Amazon is going to expand its drone delivery service, Amazon Prime Air.
The available items cover a wide variety of products, ranging from food and cosmetics to medicine and electronics.
Each package is limited to five pounds, and the largest size is roughly that of a shoebox.
With this service, customers can receive their orders in as little as 30 minutes.
In addition to its convenience, Prime Air is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under Part 135, a strict certification standard for commercial air carriers.
Amazon plans to expand this service to cover 500 cities and towns across the U.S. by late 2026.
I wonder if drone delivery can work well in densely populated areas.
That said, I think the technology behind this service will be useful in various fields in the future.
For example, delivering medicine during a pandemic, or bringing food and daily necessities to disaster-stricken areas.
Personally, I’d like to try drone delivery at least once.
