The Chastening Of The Lord | Episode 11 | God's Word Chastens

God's Word does more than encourage us. It corrects, rebukes, and shows us when we are headed in the wrong direction.

In Episode 11 of "The Chastening of the Lord," Duane Sheriff teaches how God uses His Word as one of His primary methods of chastening us. Second Timothy 3:16 says Scripture is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness. God's Word teaches us what is true, exposes wrong thinking, corrects our course, and instructs us in how to live.

To receive that correction, we cannot simply read the Bible to confirm what we already believe. We must allow the Bible to "read us." Scripture challenges our thoughts, attitudes, opinions, and choices when they don't align with God's nature and truth.

God's correction through His Word flows from His love and is always for our good. His Word warns us, redirects us, and teaches us to recognize right from wrong in a culture where those distinctions are increasingly blurred. When we make Scripture our final authority and yield to its correction, God's Word equips us to walk in wisdom, righteousness, and truth.
