Not everything that happens in our lives is God's will, but He can still bring good out of it.

In Episode 9 of "The Chastening of the Lord," Duane Sheriff explores the different ways God chastens His children. God's correction is not punishment, sickness, tragedy, or evil sent to teach us a lesson. Instead, the Holy Spirit instructs, corrects, and redirects us when we move away from God's purpose for our lives.

Like a GPS redirecting us after a wrong turn, God's chastening calls us to repent - to change our minds, turn around, and get back on the right path. His purpose is to conform us to the image of Christ, producing holiness, righteousness, and spiritual maturity.

God can also teach us in the middle of painful circumstances, poor choices, or things the enemy intends to harm us. He can bring beauty from ashes without being the One who burned the house down. God's ability to redeem a circumstance does not mean He caused it.

Believers therefore need discernment. Scripture tells us what we should submit to and what we must resist. As we sow to the Spirit, receive God's correction, and follow His leading, His chastening helps keep us moving toward His purpose for our lives.
