Want to make your Japanese sentences a little longer and more natural?
Today, we’re learning one very simple but very useful word:
でも (demo) = “but”
You can use でも to connect two simple ideas when the second one is different from, or opposite to, the first.
For example:
きょうは やすみです。でも、しごとが あります。
“Today is my day off. But I have work.”
とても たのしかったです。でも、ちょっと つかれました。
“It was a lot of fun. But I’m a little tired.”
にほんごは むずかしいです。でも、たのしいです。
“Japanese is difficult. But it’s fun.”
In this episode, you’ll hear 10 simple, natural examples that you can actually use in everyday life and while traveling in Japan.
If you’re a beginner and your Japanese sentences still feel very short, でも is a great little word to start connecting your ideas!
