Residents of Gyeonggi Province who face long journeys to Seoul are being invited to propose bus routes that better match their daily commuting needs.
According to The Korea Times, Gyeonggi Province has opened an ongoing online proposal board for its Gyeonggi Pyeonha G Bus service, a reserved-seat bus system connecting major hubs across the Seoul metropolitan area.
Residents can submit one route proposal each or edit an existing suggestion. Proposals will be sent to the relevant city or county for assessment.
Authorities will focus on areas where public transport options are limited, including new towns and locations with heavy rush-hour demand. Before any proposed route can begin operating, local governments must assess its feasibility, survey passenger demand, prepare plans, secure funding and consult relevant authorities.
Five routes in Pyeongtaek, Yangju, Hwaseong and Uiwang were selected using residents’ suggestions and commuting-demand data. Those routes began operating earlier in October 2026.
The initiative aims to give commuters a more direct role in transport planning and help authorities identify where additional bus services may be needed.
