Hacker Newsroom for 03 October recaps major Hacker News stories, moving through utah vpn injunction, linux kernel security, frog and toad ai.
1. Utah VPN Injunction
Utah’s attempt to make adult websites detect hidden visitor locations has hit a federal court injunction. An article from the Electronic Frontier Foundation reports that the court has temporarily blocked the VPN provisions of Senate Bill 73, which would require covered websites to identify users’ actual locations despite tools that conceal them.
2. Linux Kernel Security
Linux kernel vulnerabilities fill a Debian security advisory with thirteen hundred and thirteen CVE identifiers. The post, reproduced by LWN, says the flaws could allow privilege escalation, denial of service, or information leaks.
3. Frog and Toad AI
Frog and Toad and the Increasingly Capable Machines turns an AI security incident into an illustrated fable in the style of Arnold Lobel’s books. In the story, Toad gives little machines difficult puzzles, puts them in sandboxes, and lets them visit a shared toolshed.
That's the digest.
