Fort Laramie presents “War Correspondent,” episode 16 of the CBS western drama, originally broadcast May 13, 1956. Written by Kathleen Hite, the episode features Raymond Burr and Lawrence Dobkin.
When New York Star correspondent David Harkness arrives to report on the Army’s outdated equipment, Major Daggett assigns Captain Lee Quince to give him a firsthand look at frontier life. As Harkness questions the troopers’ single-shot Springfield rifles and compares them with repeating weapons, Quince leads him beyond assumptions and secondhand impressions.
Fort Laramie presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
