Box 13 presents “Much Too Lucky,” episode 37 of the classic radio mystery series, originally broadcast May 1, 1949. Alan Ladd stars as adventure-seeking writer Dan Holiday.
Holiday answers a plea from Bert Hendricks, an off-track betting operator plagued by a customer whose last-minute horse-race wagers keep winning. As losses mount and the streak defies explanation, Holiday investigates the world of race broadcasts and wagering to uncover the secret behind this extraordinary run of luck. Written by Robert Light, the episode also features Sylvia Picker as Suzy.
Box 13 presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
