The story Hippo Wants to Dance follows an enthusiastic hippopotamus who experiences rejection from her neighbors while attempting to practice her rhythmic movements. As she leaps, splashes, and twirls, she inadvertently bothers a variety of animals—including a centipede, a kingfisher, and a meerkat—who all demand she stop. Their discouragement eventually leads her to weep in isolation, believing her passion is a nuisance to others. However, a small grasshopper finds inspiration in the sound of her falling tears and begins to hop along, encouraging the hippo to resume her hobby. This newfound artistic partnership eventually captures the attention of the entire community, transforming their previous criticism into collective celebration.
