Suspense presents “Sorry, Wrong Number,” episode 80, originally broadcast on CBS on February 24, 1944. Written by Lucille Fletcher and produced by William Spier, this celebrated radio thriller stars Agnes Moorehead and was sponsored by Roma Wines.
Housebound Mrs. Elbert Stevenson places a call to her husband and is accidentally connected to a frightening conversation instead. As she tries to learn who is in danger and persuade others to help, every telephone connection brings mounting urgency. The drama’s operator-assisted calls and crossed lines evoke the tense, intimate world of 1940s telephone service.
The 50 Greatest Old Time Radio Shows presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
