CBS Radio Mystery Theater presents “Trial for Murder,” originally broadcast October 24, 1977, as episode 728. Written by James Agate Jr. and directed by Himan Brown, this supernatural courtroom mystery adapts Charles Dickens’s ghost story “To Be Taken with a Grain of Salt.” The cast includes Paul Hecht, Earl Hammond, Court Benson, and Robert Maxwell.
Two writers investigating a murder find their separate leads converging as the case comes to trial. But unsettling evidence—and the possible presence of the murdered man’s spirit—casts an uncanny shadow over the courtroom proceedings.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
