Gunsmoke presents “The Coward,” episode 183 of the classic CBS radio series, originally broadcast on October 9, 1955. William Conrad stars as Marshal Matt Dillon, with Parley Baer as Chester, Howard McNear as Doc, and Georgia Ellis as Kitty.
After a shooting raises the possibility that Dillon is the target of an ambush, Dodge City fills with rumors, warnings, and mounting tension. A gambler’s report of a threat may prove vital—or may be another danger in itself. Written by John Meston and directed by Norman Macdonnell.
Gunsmoke presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned and mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
