Gunsmoke presents “Cow Doctor,” episode 163 of the classic CBS Radio series, originally broadcast May 28, 1955. Written by John Meston and directed by Norman Macdonnell, it stars William Conrad as Marshal Matt Dillon and Howard McNear as Doc Adams.
When young Jerry Pitcher rides into Dodge asking for Doc, Matt is cautious: Jerry’s father has a reputation for hating doctors. Matt accompanies Doc to the isolated Pitcher farm, where an urgent call tests Doc’s sense of duty and leaves Dodge without its physician.
Gunsmoke presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned and mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
