Gunsmoke presents “The Surgery,” episode 307 of the classic CBS radio series, originally broadcast on February 23, 1958. Written by Marian Clark and produced and directed by Norman Macdonnell, the episode features William Conrad, Howard McNear, and John Dehner.
In Dodge City, Doc Adams believes Lucy Middleton urgently needs an operation, but her frightened husband Aaron refuses to permit it. As the medical crisis deepens, the doctor’s judgment and a husband’s fears come into painful conflict.
Gunsmoke presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned and mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
