The episode details the investigation and eventual conviction of Brooks Houck and his accomplices for the 2015 disappearance and murder of Crystal Rogers, a mother of five from Bardstown, Kentucky. Despite the lack of a body, federal and local investigators spent nearly a decade piecing together a circumstantial case that implicated Houck’s family and employees. Key evidence included contradictory statements, suspicious phone records, and cadaver dog alerts on a family vehicle. The narrative also explores the tragic unsolved shooting of Tommy Ballard, Crystal's father, who was killed while searching for his daughter. Ultimately, Houck received a life sentence, while co-conspirators Steven and Joseph Lawson were also imprisoned for their roles in the crime. Although justice was served in court, the location of Crystal's remains and the full extent of the involvement of Houck's relatives remain significant mysteries.
