The Devil and Mr. O presents “Mr Freak,” episode 5, originally broadcast October 15, 1971. This syndicated presentation retitles Arch Oboler’s earlier drama “The Ugliest Man in the World.”
Raymond Edward Johnson stars as Paul Martin, a poet haunted by a lifetime of public cruelty over his appearance. In a somber, memory-driven psychological drama, Martin confronts loneliness, humiliation, dignity, and the fragile possibility of human connection, including an encounter with a young blind woman. Ann Shephard also appears.
Old Time Horror Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
