The Weird Circle presents “The Curse of the Mantle,” episode 32, originally broadcast April 2, 1944. This supernatural suspense drama adapts Nathaniel Hawthorne’s 1838 tale “Lady Eleanore’s Mantle,” with Maurice Tarplin credited in the cast.
In colonial Massachusetts, Lady Eleanore, the governor’s niece, acquires a luxurious mantle shadowed by a sinister reputation. As the garment’s influence seems to grow, her fiancé George Helwyse faces mounting unease in a community already gripped by fear and a smallpox outbreak.
Old Time Horror Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
