The secret of my hometown?

地元に帰ると、いつも驚くことがあります。

近所のおじさんやおばさんが、

2、30年前と見た目がほとんど変わっていないことです。

私の地元は水や空気がきれいで、食べ物も美味しくて、

温泉もあるので、そのせいなのかなあと思います。

それにしても、みんな歳をとらないなあといつも感心します。

じもとに かえると、いつも おどろくことが あります。

きんじょの おじさんや おばさんが、

に、さんじゅうねんまえと みためが ほとんど かわっていないことです。

わたしの じもとは みずや くうきが きれいで、たべものも おいしくて、

おんせんも あるので、そのせいなのかなあと おもいます。

それにしても、みんな としを とらないなあと いつも かんしんします。

Whenever I go back to my hometown,

there is something that always surprises me.

It’s that the middle-aged men and women

in my neighborhood look almost exactly the same

as they did 20 or 30 years ago.

My hometown has clean water and air, delicious food,

and hot springs, so I sometimes wonder if that’s the reason.

Even so, I’m always impressed by how no one seems to age.
