The viral indie horror video game Amanda the Adventurer is being developed into a feature film by Blumhouse, following their massive financial success with Five Nights at Freddy's. Announced during the New York Comic Con 2026 Blumfest panel, the fast-moving project is being produced by former YouTuber MatPat and Epic Pictures CEO Patrick Ewald, though a writer and director have not yet been attached. The franchise, created by MANGLEDmaw Games, centers on creepy VHS tapes of a fictional children's program and taps into a growing cinematic trend of subverting nostalgic childhood media into dark horror. With Blumhouse actively seeking creative talent to helm the adaptation, studio leadership hopes to translate the online phenomenon into another lucrative box office hit.
