The horror mystery film Weapons, written and directed by Zach Cregger, centers on a small town fractured after an entire elementary school class mysteriously vanishes overnight. The narrative utilizes a unique ensemble cast of seven rotating leads, including a guilt-ridden teacher played by Julia Garner and a grieving father portrayed by Josh Brolin, who independently investigate the strange disappearances. The movie's antagonist is a parasitic witch named Aunt Gladys, whose dark witchcraft serves as a deeply personal metaphor for the author's childhood experiences with addiction and trauma. Financially successful and critically acclaimed, the project has earned major accolades, including an Original Screenplay nomination and a Supporting Actress win for Amy Madigan at the Critics Choice Awards.
