Producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form recently revealed details about the canceled sequel to the 2009 Friday the 13th reboot, which was abruptly halted just weeks before filming began in Atlanta. The aborted thirteenth installment would have featured a mature origin story focusing on the early days of Jason Voorhees at Camp Crystal Lake. Although the producers never learned why the studio scrapped the project, screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift had also conceptualized a winter-themed script featuring snowy settings and frozen landscapes. Due to ongoing legal disputes between franchise creators, the slasher icon has remained absent from cinemas, though the property is finally returning through an upcoming Peacock streaming prequel series titled Crystal Lake.
