Both Liverpool Street Station where you arrive if you fly to Stansted in London and Munich Central Station have lots in common with the Oslo S area and development. But they are a little bit ahead of Oslo - so it is perfect to find out:
What can Oslo S learn from Liverpool Street and Münich?
Oslo S has 150.000 passengers per day (which will double in the future), Liverpool Street Station 300.000 and Münich 450.000.
They are all dealing with heritage buildings, sites and reliefs of historic significance. All the stations are hubs not only for trains, but also as key hot spots in the city - with all aspects of urban life.
On a higher level, these kind of develpments touches on how the cities compete for the best talent, companies, cities to live in, the connection to the world and vice verca.
They are all hypercomplex operations, because you cannot put society on hold for ten years while you develop the site - the trains must run on time, and the coffee must be served in a kiosk for the commuters whilst building.
So are they optimistic? YES THEY ARE!
So get on a train towards Moss - that should give you just about enough time to hear the episode. If the train isn´t delayed.
