Nearly twenty years after Leon Heron was fatally shot during a 2007 robbery in a Lauderdale Lakes parking lot, law enforcement has arrested two suspects. Investigators revealed that the victim was targeted by two teenage girls cruising in a stolen vehicle to commit robberies. The breakthrough in the long-standing cold case occurred because of an incarcerated informant named Brittany Hanfield, who initially claimed to be a witness before confessing to key details. Consequently, authorities charged both Hanfield and a second suspect, Sheila Arstil, with first-degree murder. Currently, the accused individuals are detained without bond at the Broward County Jail, providing much-needed closure to the victim's grieving relatives.
