Bloomberg reported on September 28, 2026 that Nubank is in talks with Monzo on what could be Nubank's biggest deal yet. Nubank, founded in 2013 and listed on the NYSE in 2021 after raising about $2.6 billion, operates across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia and reports serving more than 100 million customers by 2024. Monzo, founded in 2015 and led by CEO TS Anil, is a United Kingdom challenger bank regulated by the PRA and FCA. Possible outcomes include a minority investment, a strategic partnership, or a full acquisition, each with different regulatory and balance sheet implications. Any deal would require approvals in the United Kingdom and reviews by Brazilian authorities, and would face integration, currency, and competitive risks. Strategic opportunities include cross-border remittances, co-branded products, and technology scale benefits.
