#81- The Mirror Is Not the Measure: Self-Criticism to Self-Acceptance — Below The Circle with Dr. Phyllis

It’s easy to catch a glimpse of ourselves in the mirror or in a photo and immediately start picking apart every detail. The way our clothes fit, the shape of our body, the expression on our face—we find flaws before we find anything to celebrate. And then, without realizing it, we start believing that the mirror defines us.

O - Own your identity beyond what the mirror shows. Your worth is not up for debate.
C - Celebrate the things that make you uniquely you. Find joy in who you are right now.
U - Understand that self-acceptance is a process, not a final destination. It takes time and practice.
S - Say yes to showing up as you are, without waiting to look a certain way first.

When we fixate on the mirror, we miss the bigger picture. We miss the joy of the moment, the growth we’ve experienced, and the presence we bring to the people around us. Psalm 139:14 reminds us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made—nothing about us is a mistake.
