Blind Bags vs Real Comics

Marvel’s “True Believers” blind bags were supposed to create excitement around Daredevil #1, but early retailer reports are telling a very different story.

Damaged comics. Creased spines. Hours of unpaid labor.

In this podcast, we break down what retailers are already calling the “Blind Bag Tax” — a hidden cost baked into Marvel’s polybag strategy that’s quietly eroding comic shop margins and product quality across the Direct Market.

Using verified data from ICv2 and documented retailer reports, we analyze:

🔴Why Marvel’s blind bag packaging is causing widespread damage

🔴How much time and money shops are losing per shipment

🔴The real reason this strategy keeps getting repeated

🔴And how DC’s product-first approach helped flip market share in Q4 2025

This isn’t about variants or collector hype.

It’s about whether the comics industry is repeating the same mistakes that led to the collapse of the 90s speculation boom.
