Why Great Writers Can't Save Comics Anymore

DC and Marvel think Batman, The Flash, and Amazing Spider-Man can be magically fixed by bringing in superstar writers like Matt Fraction or Ryan North . But the data says otherwise.

In this video, we break down the reality of Reputational Debt—the lingering damage left behind by heavily criticized, continuity-breaking runs from writers like Chip Zdarsky, Zeb Wells, and Si Spurrier. We analyze how the industry's $4.99 price floor has destroyed the reader "grace period," causing massive budgetary displacement. Fans aren't just taking a break; they are permanently exiting legacy titles or migrating their pull-list cash directly to the Absolute Universe.

Great creative teams can't heal a book if the publisher has already burned the house down.
