REACTION: Washington Gets SLOPPY Apple Cup Win Over Washington State

The Washington Huskies' defense turned in an elite performance and shut down Washington State Cougars in a 24-10 victory in the Apple Cup for Jedd Fisch and Ryan Walters, but offensive mistakes raise questions as Big Ten play looms.

Locked On Huskies host Roman Tomashoff and Last Word on College Sports' Nick Lemkau break down the Huskies’ win, spotlighting contributions from freshmen standouts Derek Coleman-Brusa, Ramzak Fruean, and Jeron Jones. The episode unpacks how mistakes, highlighted by 12 penalties for 130 yards and a sluggish first-half performance on offense, nearly offset Ryan Walters' unit's strong debut, while Demond Williams Jr’s late-game rally after early struggles and Chris Lawson’s emergence at wide receiver offer reasons for optimism.

Key topics include offensive line struggles against the Cougars’ defensive front, missed opportunities in the red zone, and the impact of veteran leaders like Jacob Manu and Alex McLaughlin. Will the Huskies’ discipline and rhythm improve before they face the Big Ten’s toughest opponents?

Dive in for full analysis on Washington’s strengths, areas for growth, and what this win means moving forward.
