Did the New York Mets NEED to DUMP Brandon Nimmo? | Is it WORTH Being STUCK with Marcus Semien?

New York Mets’ gamble on Marcus Semien backfires as Brandon Nimmo has outperformed him in Texas.

Did the front office misjudge Nimmo’s impact and the risks of unloading his contract?

Ryan Finkelstein scrutinizes the Nimmo-for-Semien trade, comparing Nimmo’s age-33 campaign and advanced stats to Semien’s struggles at second base.

The show explores how the move failed to bolster the Mets’ defense, the development of outfield prospects AJ Ewing and Carson Benge, and the ongoing issues with over-the-hill second basemen—a familiar Mets misstep since Roberto Alomar and Robinson Cano.

Key talking points include Juan Soto’s fit as a designated hitter, implications for roster flexibility, and whether cutting ties with past contracts finally sets the Mets up for future success.

Series preview and critical questions about the franchise’s direction round out a sharp, data-driven analysis.
