Will Jaydon Young EARN More Minutes for UNC Tar Heels in Year 2? Scouting, BOLD Predictions & More!

North Carolina Tar Heels face a crucial backcourt battle as Jaydon Young tries to carve out a bigger role in his second year at Chapel Hill. Will his veteran experience and defensive prowess earn him a secure spot in Michael Malone’s rotation, or will rising competitors like Isaiah Denis and Angelo Brizzi edge him out for key minutes?

Isaac Schade and Jonathan Adams break down Young’s strengths—solid point-of-attack defense and team-first mentality—while highlighting his need to improve three-point shooting to boost his on-court impact. The discussion covers Young’s past offensive flashes at Virginia Tech, role competition within the Tar Heels’ deep guard room, and bold predictions for an ACC breakout performance. With questions swirling around UNC’s lockdown perimeter defender and new coaching strategies, the stage is set for an intense fight for playing time as the season begins.
