REACTION: Ole Miss Is BACK? 52-17 Over Vandy Sets Up A MASSIVE Mizzou Game — Locked On Ole Miss - Daily podcast on Ole Miss Rebels Football, Basketball & Baseball

Everyone will say Vanderbilt was a tune-up. That's the wrong read. Two weeks ago this defense gave up 302 rushing yards and 52 points in Gainesville, and today Ole Miss scored 52 and won by 35 on the road in the SEC. That's not a tune-up. That's a team answering the question it has heard for 14 days, right before No. 14 Missouri and its 222-yard running back come to Oxford.

Final: Ole Miss 52, Vanderbilt 17. Next: No. 14 Missouri in Oxford, Saturday, 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET.

Steven Willis goes live minutes after the final whistle with the instant overreaction: what changed on defense, who took over, what it means that every prediction undersold it, and why next Saturday against Missouri just became one of the biggest games of the season. Drop your take in the chat.

📌 THREE THINGS

That was the answer to Gainesville. Two weeks after Florida put 52 on Ole Miss, Ole Miss put 52 on Vanderbilt and won by 35. Every prediction we heard this week, from Locked On Vandy's 31-21 to Tom Vanderford's 38-17, undersold it. Ole Miss is 4-1 and 2-1 in the SEC.
Missouri is the real test, and it's coming to Oxford. The Tigers are 5-1, No. 14, and just beat Texas A&M 27-6 behind 222 rushing yards from Jamal Roberts. That's the run game this defense has to stop.
Kickoff is Saturday at 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET in Vaught-Hemingway. The network is still to be announced. Win, and the trip to Austin becomes the biggest game of the season.
