Ole Miss Legend John Fourcade: Why Missouri Scares Him After 52-17 DESTRUCTION of Vandy

Everybody's going to look at Ole Miss 52, Vanderbilt 17 and say Vanderbilt won the second half. That's the wrong read. It was 42-3 at halftime, Vanderbilt ran for 103 yards two weeks after Florida ran for 302, and both lines of scrimmage were a mauling by the middle of the first quarter. Ole Miss legend John Fourcade says the real test is Saturday, against a Missouri back who just ran for 222 yards.

Five days to Missouri. Twelve to Texas.

Steven Willis brings in Ole Miss legend John Fourcade to break down the Vanderbilt rout: why it was exactly what this fan base needed, what Missouri's run game means for Saturday, how John David Baker's offense is finishing in the red zone, and the big-man touchdown Fourcade says Jamarious Brown will live with forever. Then the two go around the SEC Week 7 board, and Fourcade names the game on the schedule that scares him.

📌 THREE THINGS

1. Vanderbilt could not run the ball, and that is the whole story. Steven calls both lines of scrimmage "an absolute mauling," and the numbers agree: 42-3 at halftime, and Vanderbilt held to 103 rushing yards two weeks after Florida ran for 302. If you can't run on this Ole Miss team, you can't do anything else.

2. Missouri is the game that scares Fourcade. The Tigers are 5-1 and No. 13, and Jamal Roberts just ran for 222 yards against Texas A&M. "Ole Miss has to stop the run, we know that," Fourcade says, and he wants Kewan Lacy back at the center of Ole Miss's own run game. Kickoff is 2:30 CT in Oxford.

3. The defense is finally finishing plays. Fourcade says Pete Golding's whole question is whether players are in position and making tackles: "Our defense has to be in the right spot, make the play and make the tackle." Ole Miss missed six tackles at Vanderbilt after three straight games at 14, per PFF.
