Why Ole Miss Beats Vanderbilt | 3 Reasons, 3 Keys, Final Score

Everyone is calling Saturday a trap game. That's the wrong frame. Pete Golding has faced exactly one unranked team as a head coach and beat Charlotte 41-9, and Ole Miss spent its open date hitting people while Vanderbilt came home from a 38-14 beating in Athens. The trap is real only if Ole Miss forgets who its quarterback is.

Tomorrow: Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. Saturday, 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET, Nashville.

Steven Willis lays out the three reasons Ole Miss beats Vanderbilt, the three keys and the players to watch, what Vegas says about the game, and his final score.

📌 THREE THINGS

1. Ole Miss is the angrier team. After a 52-28 loss at Florida, Pete Golding ran a practice with zero defensive calls, put the whole roster in one room for the Florida tape and went full pads on a Sunday night off a bye. Vanderbilt is 0-2 in the SEC and was outgained 256-59 after halftime in a 38-14 loss at Georgia.

2. Let Chambliss be Chambliss. Against LSU he threw for 363 yards and two touchdowns, his 10th career 300-yard game, tying Eli Manning for the program record. Vanderbilt blitzes "7, 8 on 3rd down," per Terez Davis, and Traylon Ray and Deuce Alexander each caught seven passes with a touchdown against LSU.

3. FanDuel had Ole Miss -10.5 with a -365 moneyline and a 59.5 total on Wednesday morning, with 87% of the money on the Rebels. Steven Willis's final score: Ole Miss 38, Vanderbilt 24.
