Eli Drinkwitz Thinks He Knows Pete Golding's Defense | Ole Miss vs Mizzou Week

Every Missouri week story has been about three former Rebels coming home. That's the wrong line. Eli Drinkwitz said his real edge is Pete Golding's own defense ("we kind of know what they do"), while Ole Miss players say a team that just scored 52 still hasn't played a full game, with zero points in the third quarter at Vanderbilt. And the leading pass rusher on Golding's defense was the 43rd edge rusher in the portal, per On3.

Three days to Missouri. Ten to Texas.

Steven Willis takes you inside both sidelines of Missouri week: Deuce Alexander, Antonio Kite and Connor Howes on the full game Ole Miss still hasn't played, why stopping the run early is the key Saturday, Eli Drinkwitz's claim that Missouri knows Golding's defense from the inside, and why Blake Purchase is quietly having a monster year.

📌 THREE THINGS

1. Ole Miss took a quarter off and still won by 35. Deuce Alexander: "We still haven't put a full game together." It was 42-3 at the half at Vanderbilt and 0 in the third quarter. Steven's key for Saturday: stop the run early so Missouri can't turn it into a time-of-possession game like Florida did.

2. Drinkwitz thinks the inside knowledge runs his way. "We don't run anything like what they ran," he said, but "we kind of know what they do," because Chris Graves Jr. can tell Missouri the Ole Miss base defense. Golding's plan is making "the same things look different and different things look the same."

3. Blake Purchase leads Ole Miss with 3.5 sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss. Per On3, he had 3.5 sacks in three years at Oregon; he has matched that in five games. Connor Howes, who blocks him every day: "I honestly think our D-ends are some of the best in the country."
