In this inspiring episode of Living the Dream with Curveball, we are joined by George Appling, a dynamic entrepreneur, author, and mentor who made the courageous leap from a successful corporate career to pursue his passions. Hailing from the small town of El Campo, Texas, George shares his journey of self-discovery and the pivotal moment that led him to prioritize what he loves over what looks good on paper.
George reflects on his impressive career, which includes roles as a partner at prestigious consulting firms and leadership positions in the cell phone distribution industry. However, it was his love for the Renaissance Festival that ignited a transformative path, leading him to create the Sherwood Forest Fair in Austin, Texas, and a unique summer camp for kids that immerses them in medieval experiences.
Throughout this episode, George discusses:
- The importance of intentionality in choosing a fulfilling career
- Insights from his book, *Don't Settle: A Pick Your Path Guide to Intentional Work*, which offers a framework for aligning passion with work
- Practical steps for transitioning to a career that aligns with personal values without risking financial stability
