ELITE TIER: BYU Football Remains ENTRENCHED Among Big 12 Contenders With TTU, Utah, Oklahoma State | Big 12 Squad

Oklahoma State Cowboys surge toward the Big 12 title race, rattling predictions as On3 tips them for a College Football Playoff run. Are Mike Gundy’s Cowboys truly the team to beat, or are Big 12 contenders like West Virginia, BYU, and Utah still in the mix? The squad debates Oklahoma State’s “timely” defense, standout performances from quarterback Drew Mestemaker, and whether West Virginia’s season should already be written off.

The discussion heats up as TCU’s struggles put Sonny Dykes’ future under the microscope, while Utah’s gritty road win keeps them firmly in the conference’s top tier. Key storylines include BYU’s injury woes, TCU’s search for offensive identity, Arizona State’s health concerns, and the ever-unpredictable Big 12 power rankings. Host insights and local expertise shed light on which rosters have real championship potential—and who could be the league’s next big letdown.

The strength of the Big 12 runs deep this season, anchored by programs like BYU, Utah, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia that showcase what happens when rugged, physical football meets elite execution.

BYU has established a suffocating physical identity under Kalani Sitake, combining an overpowering rushing attack with veteran trench-warfare discipline that consistently leaves advanced metric models grinning.

Utah continues to overwhelm opponents with an elite, balanced attack—surrendering single-digit points defensively while shredding quality opponents through ruthless line-of-scrimmage control.

Oklahoma State brings high-octane explosive capability, proving they can march into hostile environments like Morgantown and execute at a high level behind dynamic aerial and ground firepower.

West Virginia constantly leverages its traditional tough-minded grit, maintaining a physical rushing presence that forces opponents into maximum-effort battles every single week.

Ultimately, these programs embody the absolute bloodbath of the conference, where weekly survival is earned through unmatched developmental depth, physical resilience, and a refusal to back down in the trenches.
