UPHEAVAL: BYU Football Discussing New College Football Realignment, Big 12 Teams TARGETED, ACC DOOM

College football’s future hangs in the balance as conference realignment rumors explode. Will the sport survive sweeping changes driven by the Protect College Sports Act and a looming 20-team cap? Spencer McLaughlin, Drake Toll, and Jake Hatch react to On3’s shocking realignment scenario, spotlighting possible Big 12 additions like Boise State, UNLV, San Diego State, and North Dakota State. The hosts question if these regional brands actually bring TV value or are just desperate moves to keep pace with the SEC and Big Ten, both of which appear primed to poach college football’s blue bloods such as Miami, Clemson, Florida State, and North Carolina.

Is adding Boise State a smart play for the Big 12, given their storied football history, or is it a market overreach in a league already struggling for eyeballs? The discussion heats up as Jake Hatch and Drake Toll consider whether the Big 12 should focus instead on acquiring ACC programs like Pitt, Louisville, or Memphis to solidify its national standing and rival the top leagues in TV deals. USF and the untapped San Diego market are thrown into the mix—can they bring enough value to change the conference’s fate, or are they simply stopgaps in a massive collegiate shuffle?

Meanwhile, the proposed 24-team College Football Playoff draws fierce criticism. Spencer McLaughlin warns that a bloated playoff could drain the regular season of its drama, encouraging teams to rest starters and devaluing high-stakes rivalries. The trio explores whether college football’s identity—rooted in passionate fan bases and historic matchups—can survive this unprecedented era of change. If powerhouse schools leave the ACC and new markets fail to deliver, will the sport lose its soul, or can innovative thinking restore parity and excitement?

Tune in for a sharp, spirited breakdown of realignment chaos, TV money battles, and the existential questions gripping college football fans nationwide.
