Deep in the rugged, subarctic wilderness of Canada’s Northwest Territories lies a jagged scar of towering limestone canyons and untamed rapids. Accessible almost entirely by floatplane or treacherous river expeditions, this vast expanse is breathtakingly beautiful and steeped in a sinister, century-old reputation. To the Indigenous Dene peoples, parts of this wilderness have long carried deep taboos, whispered to harbor evil spirits, strange warm-water tropical valleys, and a fierce, vanished tribe of giants known as the Naha. 

The valley earned its grim modern moniker, the "Valley of Headless Men", during the frantic gold rush of the early 1900s, when prospectors began vanishing into its mist-choked gorges. In the decades that followed, a chilling pattern emerged: missing prospectors, deserted camps, and headless corpses discovered along the riverbanks, spawning ominous local landmarks like Deadmen Valley, Headless Creek, and Funeral Range.
