Eli Willits Fast Track To The Washington Nationals Could Cause A CJ Abrams Trade This Offseason

Eli Willits’ rapid rise through the Nationals’ farm system could spell a dramatic shift for Washington’s infield—does CJ Abrams’ future now hang in the balance? Ryan Clary breaks down why Abrams could be a top trade candidate this offseason, with prospects like Willits looming and the Nationals’ ownership reluctant to spend big on extensions. The debate heats up as Clary examines potential returns for Abrams and how the team’s timeline for contention might center on emerging young talent. Key discussion points highlight underrated Nationals prospects Gavin Fien, Landon Harmon, and Ben Grable—names fans shouldn’t overlook as the team builds for 2027 and beyond. Clary also explores the often-overlooked bullpen pipeline featuring Joe Glassey, Will Dion, and Yovanny Cruz, questioning whether recent trades and internal development can finally stabilize one of MLB’s weakest bullpens. Can the Nationals convert their prospect pipeline into big-league success for the next era?
