Essentials in Leadership | Episode 2 | The "One Thing"

What is the one thing that determines whether a leader finishes strong or becomes a needless casualty? In Episode 2 of “Essentials in Leadership,” Duane Sheriff shares that the greatest essential in leadership is not position, talent, or success—but maintaining an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Drawing from the apostle Paul’s words, “this one thing I do,” Duane affirms that every believer is called, first and foremost, to know God personally and seek Him above everything else.

When we get this one thing right—prioritizing our relationship with Jesus above all else—it brings clarity, stability, and purpose to every area of leadership and life. Our ministries are anointed, our work is fruitful, and our daily responsibilities are infused with divine purpose. True leadership flows from dependence on God rather than human effort alone. This episode challenges believers not to let busyness, ministry work, or daily tasks substitute for intimacy and fellowship with the Lord.
