Rooney: Carrick Needed Players! Man City Defeat & United's Squad Depth | Stick to United EP 5

Stick to United with Wayne Rooney is back for episode five! 👹

Mark Goldbridge joins Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney to react to United’s defeat to ten-man Manchester City, brought to you by Disney+.

With just four points from 12, the pair break down a frustrating Manchester derby and discuss why United failed to make their extra man count.

Wayne and Mark question United’s lack of creativity, discuss Matheus Cunha’s false-nine role and ask whether Marcus Rashford should play through the middle. They also assess United’s options at full-back, with Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu’s performances coming under scrutiny.

The conversation turns to Michael Carrick’s options, as Rooney highlights the lack of squad depth and the need for more signings. Mark questions why Benjamin Šeško didn’t start, while Wayne discusses Bruno Fernandes’ workload and gives his verdict on City’s red card.

Plus, Wayne compares Carrick’s situation with Mikel Arteta’s early years at Arsenal, while Mark raises questions about INEOS, the Glazers and the direction of the club. Rooney also reflects on the winning mentality under Sir Alex Ferguson and what today’s United side can learn from those standards.
